Chelsea's Reading #1

I included this photo because I think this article got me thinking about my real classroom experience, and is helping me prepare for moments such as displayed in the cartoon. And I know there will be some moments I just can't be prepared for and I'll just have to laugh!

In thinking about my own classroom this gave me a lot to think about. I had in mind my own thoughts at to what theater text was/could be. I always like to keep in mind other peoples thoughts and perspectives, so it was great to get another perspective. I thought it was interesting that the article said theater teachers should engage with literacy specialist. I didn't even know that job existed, and I wonder if that's a teaching job or how you would get in contact with them. i would like to know more about that position to be able to utilize all my resources. I thought it was interesting how it mentioned different people construct meaning from a text in different ways and I will want to keep that in mind in my classroom. For instance I will want to have a designer look at a script differently then an actor would. I talked about that in my preclass survey, but the article also emphasized that point. I like how there are theater analysis activities, and that they expand beyond just reading the text. In the example of Shelley Graham she got the class involved in dramaturgy work so that everyone was invested. I want to do that for my classroom so that there isn't a rift between the designers and actors and that we are all working towards the same goal of learning and the process of theater.
