Krystle's thoughts

After reading this chapter I thought a lot about what texts I have used in my theatre classrooms and what texts I want to use in my future classroom. It made me think of how I can incorporate different texts into my lessons and which ones are going to best benefit the students. I took 377C with Julia and so reading about the activity I could relate to it because I had done it. I can see how I might want to use image theatre in teaching my students to help them see things from a broader perspective and to come to resolutions.
I liked reading the example about Mrs. Graham becauseI hadn't ever thought of using poems to that extent but I enjoyed it because it gave the text more life. It made me think about ways that I can get my students thinking beyond the words on the page and learn more about it and the author. It made me realize all the resources that I have access too that can help my students to develop other areas such as research, creating visual images, and things that they need to know in preparing that text for the stage. Mrs. Graham's example made me think of poems that I would want to use, being able to expose the students to many more texts, and how I could use them beyond just having the students memorizing them.
