Reading this paper helped reassure me that I wasn’t just making things up when I wrote my answers for my pre-survey questioner. Of course the initial thoughts that came to me as I considered a text were books and scripts. Then I remembered what Ruben from Theatre Mitu told us- that relying wholly on the script is not enough in the creation of theatre. We need other things to inspire and impulse us.
It really makes me excited to consider my own classrooms in the future and think of different theatre texts that I will be able to use with my students Theatre is a different kind of study when compare to other core subjects such as math and sciences, so of course we should use all different kinds of texts to help the students understand the importance and meaning of what theatre is and has to offer to them.
