Kristy #5

I researched the Inquiry method of teaching. I think that this is a GREAT mode of learning that can most defiantly incorporate into my teaching and future classrooms. This type of learning is focused on asking questions – which conveniently is a big part of theatre and teaching. Here is a short explanation which I found on line: “Students are encouraged to ask questions which are meaningful to them, and which do not necessarily have easy answers; teachers are encouraged to avoid giving answers when this is possible, and in any case to avoid giving direct answers in favor of asking more questions.”
I think this is great cause you can help the students learn by having them discover by asking questions. At another site it explained that inquiry-based learning “requires students to work together to solve problems rather than receiving direct instructions on what to do from the teacher.” I think that it’s more important for this kind of learning to happen in a theatre classroom than in other classes. Because growing and discovering and creating happens through questioning and problem solving and working together, not from lecturing and note taking.
