Teaching day #2-

fun times, fun times! we have been doing little warm up activities with the students to get them ready for class to start, moving around a bit. We followed our lesson plan pretty well. It is nice taking turns switching off instruction parts and them being able to add and clarify for each other. I really liked how well the example and mini activity went with them. We gave an example of presentations to the students, our example was on the history of musical theatre. We talked about when singing starts in a musical is when words wont do anymore, and we had 2 girls come up and improv a scene. at the end of the scene we asked the student when a good place would have been to insert music, where the climax was and they suggested a spot. They tried the scene again and to our surprise she actually broke out into song! it was great!
We spent some time in the computer lab so that they could with their groups research the authors/genre's of theatre history which they were assigned. While they were working on the computers I was able to go around to individuals and groups and check for understanding and make sure theat they understood the assignments they were working on. It was a good balance of instruction and independent practice and good time to check up on their understanding and make sure they knew what they were doing and why.
