I think we intended our lesson to be "student-centered" but I'm not sure how much "learning" occurred. Overall, I think it was ok, but looking back, I don't know how I feel about the coherency of it all. I think they really enjoyed the activities, and through the activities we were able to bring out good points, but I'm really learning ways in which I want to refine this unit.
There were actually two specific moments when I felt like student-center learning occurred. The first was during the beginning activity. It was actually when I had to play the "student" role and step-in for a student who had to step-out. Ironically enough I felt like that opportunity for them to be the "teacher" focused their learning to benefit them. Also, during our discussion of diaolgue, I was asking a series of questions to the students, with the intention of them being able to make my point through their thoughts and comments, and I feel like that was very successful. I believe that being able to teach students things with what they already know is very effective and I think that is what that exercise accomplished.
